Natasha Bakranich All Girls Carnival

In 2021, the Huntingdale Tee Ball Club proudly launched the first-ever All Girls Carnival—an initiative born from their desire to address the noticeable drop in female participation around the age of 10, when the sport often becomes male-dominated. We recognised the importance of creating a space where girls could feel seen, supported, and inspired to continue playing. The goal was simple but powerful: to provide an event dedicated entirely to girls, where they could compete alongside peers their own age, showcase their skills, build confidence, and most importantly—have fun!

The inaugural carnival was a resounding success, with eleven teams from across the Perth metropolitan area taking part. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from players, parents, and coaches alike encouraged us to continue growing this event and reaffirmed the importance of fostering inclusive opportunities for young athletes.

By 2022, the carnival had grown substantially, welcoming approximately 235 girls across 22 teams, representing clubs from as far north as Wanneroo Joondalup to as far south as Secret Harbour, and everywhere in between. The enthusiasm and energy on the day proved that the need for such a space is not only real—it’s vital.

The Harrisdale Hawks are proud to be part of this ongoing initiative. We are deeply committed to supporting and empowering young female players, both on and off the field. As part of our involvement, we're excited to announce that we are designing a special edition tee ball shirt to commemorate this incredible event and celebrate the spirit of girls in sport.

Together, we are building more than a carnival—we are building confidence, community, and a lifelong love of the game.
